Non-book Materials

A great suggestion came in to our email recently:

Have a blanket to check out. The Library can be drafty, and people like to be cozy :)

Thanks for the suggestion! We confess the Library temperatures can vary depending on how sunny it is outside, how many people are in the library, and how much oxygen the plants are exhaling. Some days it can be drafty and some days it can be quite warm. The suggestion to circulate a blanket is a creative idea, but not something we can manage right now. There are plenty of sunny nooks to keep you warm while you're studying in the daytime, and in the evenings the quiet floors (2nd and 4th) tend to be the warmest. Stay warm!

School Visit

The Library had a lovely visit over the January term - students from Thomas Johnson Middle School were able to take a field trip to the Goucher College Library to work on research for their Maryland History Day scholarships. The two highlights appear to have been a 13th-century item from our Special Collections & Archives, and pizza!

We can't wait to hear how History Day goes for these researchers!
